Works are also underway on the expansion of the Intensive Care Unit that will be housed within the new seven storey ward block.
The Department of Medicine comprises 32 medical beds, 5 coronary beds, 12 medical oncology and haematology shared beds, 9 palliative care beds and provides specialist outpatient clinics each week.
Halfway between Brisbane and Townsville this town is only a short drive to the pristine beaches and national parklands of Queensland. The town has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and offers plenty of activities close by to keep you and your family entertained; including museums, botanical gardens, a crocodile farm and a local zoo. The beach is perfect for snorkelling, scuba diving and boating.
The city hosts various arts, music and dance festivals throughout the year and has a thriving nightlife with many restaurants, bars, hotels and clubs to choose from. Locally there are four shopping centres. The region is well served by both private and public schools, including several for boarders. The architecture is a mix of colonial through to modern. Homes in the suburbs south of the river are predominantly older Queensland architectural styles; the northern suburbs contain most of the modern homes. The median price of a home is about $250,000 making it a very affordable city in which to live and raise a family.
