As a General Medicine Consultant you will utilise your clinical knowledge, proficiency, skills and experience in assessment, investigation, diagnosis and treatment of patients. You will provide a high-quality clinical service and be actively involved in teaching and research programmes.Your duties will encompass consultation services for in-patients of GPs and other specialists, managing patients admitted to HDU and medical uptransfers from smaller hospitals within the catchment areas, teaching medical students and trainee medical officers. Acting as a positive role model and mentor, you will support education of health professionals and encourage and support team work for optimal clinical service outcomes. In addition to conducting and supporting research within the Region, you will provide expert advice for internal and external committees and workgroups as requested.

The hospital comprises 73 inpatient beds, 20 day surgery beds/chairs, an eight bed high dependency unit and a level two-neonate nursery. To be successful in applying for this position you must hold FRACP or be close to obtaining your fellowship and be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Our client are looking for a candidate who has sufficient experience of acute general medicine in a hospital setting.
