This opportunity is for an ICU Career Medical Officer to join a long standing team of other CMO’s, in a leading private hospital. With the position beginning in the wards until confidence and knowledge of the hospital is built, the role will then primarily be based within the Intensive Care Unit itself. As a Career Medical officer you will deliver medical services to inpatients in the absence of Admitting medical officers, and you will be confident in your abilities to lead on this care.
In the intensive care unit you will have the opportunity to gain dynamic experience and strong skills in intubation will be needed. You will have at least 12 months of recent ICU experience and you will not be looking to progress with fellowship training at this stage or in the future stages of your career. Whilst working as a General ward CMO your first experience in the ICU will be at Registrar level as your familiarise yourself with the health service.

The Intensive care unit itself receives approximately 1,200 presentations per year and offers multidisciplinary services across 30 beds. It is a Level 3 facility which mainly offers services across general surgery and medical patients. It is a light, airy and spacious department with state-of-the-art technology including the use of computers to log all medicals notes and to access medical history and records at ease.

You must have AHPRA general registration or be eligible for registration via the competent authority pathway and have 12 months recent work experience in a health care system comparable to that of Australia. You will have a minimum of 12 months ICU experience and be comfortable across both ICU and ward work.
