Wavelength is proud to be exclusively recruiting a Staff Specialist in General Surgery for a full-time appointment. In this rewarding opportunity, you will utilise your previous experience to provide clinical care to patients as a member of the senior medical team.
The role requires sound clinical knowledge and experience in preoperative, operative, and postoperative management of patients with a broad spectrum of diseases, including those which may require nonoperative, elective, or emergency surgical treatment. The breadth and depth of this knowledge may vary by special interest category. Surgical management skills in complex decision making, competency in diagnosis, as well as treatment and management, including operative intervention, will be essential. You will also have the opportunity to showcase your knowledge when training junior medical staff and students and keep up the reputation of an excellent teaching hospital that has strong connections to multiple universities. You will participate in a 1:4 on a call roster.
This referral hospital has a new private hospital day surgery centre that is co-allocated to the public hospital. As such the incumbent has the opportunity to build your own private practice with all the desired support provided.
This position is based at a well renowned referral hospital. A large number of acute specialist services and a range of diagnostic services are available. This highly commended 116 bed hospital is a level four regional facility. Throughout this position ongoing education is actively encouraged for the skilled health professionals whose aim is providing the community with a high standard of health care and focusing on wellness. A large selection of surgical cases is covered by the department ranging from breast surgeries, thyroid and routine general surgical emergencies requiring the skills related to your speciality.
The surgical department is currently undergoing an exciting growth period. You will be joined by 2 general surgeons and a junior team consisting of one SRMO, one CMO and one Intern.

Applicants must be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and hold a specialist qualification in surgery. International medical graduates will be considered.
