== The Position == As a FACEM joining this newly developed and modern Emergency department, you will manage the care of patients in consultation with the responsible Registrars, Consultants, Nursing and Allied Health professionals. Assisting the Director, you will also play a role in the education of junior staff and students to ensure the department runs to the highest clinical standards. Other duties of the role include active participation in patient safety, audit, research and service planning activities. With this role also comes the potential opportunity for some Aeromedical retrieval work. The Hospital The hospital is the main referral facility for the district which serves a population of approximately 135,000 people. The hospital deals with accidents and retrievals from surrounding islands, mining and farming areas, making it a central and vital facility for the region with a large range of clinical presentations. Between 2012 and 2014 the hospital underwent a $405 million redevelopment, seeing the number of beds increase from 163 to 318. This redevelopment also included a new Emergency Department meaning facilities and technology within the department are modern and impressive.   == The Location == This tropical city, with a rich and colourful history, is known for its picture perfect beaches and laid back atmosphere. It has a good balance of modern facilities and amenities including a wide range of sporting facilities such as tennis courts, an Olympic pool and three excellent golf courses.
