Wavelength has a unique opportunity for a Paediatrician to fill a unique opportunity in Northern QLD. Due to the retirement of the current Clinical Director, this opportunity uniquely positions you to lead the development and expansion of the service whilst managing complex paediatric conditions. Working in a ten bed children’s ward and three bed nursery, you will work alongside a small, dedicated team of colleagues and medical professionals who are highly regarded within the Hospital and community to provide a soon to be reclassified level 4 Nursery and level 4 Neonatal care. You will have a strong interest in sharing your knowledge as you facilitate and contribute to the supervision and training of medical staff and other health care professionals.
Covering over 300,000 square kilometres this hospital operates as a level four base hospital servicing remote rural communities. The facility has 80 beds and offers services such as Obstetrics, Paediatrics, Emergency and Palliative Care. The Hospital also offers a number of outreach services to facilities and hospitals inclusive of mental and allied health, nutrition and aged care. The 24 hour Emergency Department has recently been relocated into a purpose built facility allowing the most up to date care to be provided in state of the art facilities. The department currently has over 29,000 presentations annually with 6,933 admissions to the Hospital. The Hospital has been granted $65.19 million redevelopment to improve access to services alongside improving patient facilities and amenities.

The successful candidate will be a Fellow with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Paediatrics) and hold specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
