The Position
An exciting opportunity has become available on the south-east coast of Queensland. As an experienced Child and Youth Consultant Psychiatrist, your primary clinical work will be provided within a community based setting. As the sole Child and Youth Consultant you will be working with an excellent multidisciplinary team and have strong psychiatry registrar support.  
 
You will be required to participate in the after-hours on call roster for the General Adult.

The Hospital
In recent years the Hospital has undergone a major redevelopment totalling in excess of $50 million. The redevelopment has delivered new beds, improved services in the rehabilitation unit, as well as a new emergency department, maternity unit and special care nursery.
 
Services available include intensive care, coronary care, obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedic surgery, general surgery, vascular surgery, 24-hour emergency medicine, pharmacy, medical imaging, pathology and comprehensive mental health services. Allied Health services include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, speech therapy, psychology and social work.

The Location
Located at the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef with access to coral islands and scuba diving, this is a great place for getting close to nature and to relax, swim, snorkel or dive. Just 15kms out of the city lays a beach famous for having the largest concentration of nesting marine turtles on the eastern Australian mainland.

With a population of more than 90,000 people this regional town is large enough to provide cosmopolitan living, yet relaxed enough to allow for ample family and leisure time. And with theatres, art galleries, museums, an entertainment centre and a lively restaurant scene you will always have something to do during your precious time off.

Salary
Remuneration value up to $392,483 p.a., comprising salary between $171,044 - $216,865 p.a. (L18–L27), motor vehicle allowance, professional development allowance, professional development leave 3.6 weeks p.a., professional indemnity cover and private practice arrangements. Overtime and on-call allowances will be negotiated with the successful applicant upon appointment. Superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) will be applied additionally to the total remuneration value.

Essential Criteria
 
Australia/NZMust hold FRANZCP and be eligible for Specialist registration with AHPRA
UK/IrelandMust hold MRCPsych / FRCPsych plus UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT/CCST) and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more
USAMust hold Certificate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.
CanadaMust hold Fellowship in Psychiatry or Certificate in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.
 
Other qualifications can of course be assessed on a case-by-case basis. For those unable to work at Consultant level, there are multiple opportunities to take advantage of at Senior Medical Officer and Registrar level.
