The Position

This role is dedicated to delivering high-quality specialist orthopaedic care within the region Hospital and Health Service, supervise junior staff, and ensure safety and adherence to professional standards. Manage a diverse workload, including clinical duties, administrative tasks, and after-hours on-call responsibilities. Promote professional development, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. Engage in outreach to rural facilities and support educational programs for medical students.

The Hospital

This is a 236-bed regional hospital serving 10 rural hospitals and multi-purpose health facilities. It is embarking on an exciting period of growth with a $250 million redevelopment to provide an additional 112 inpatient beds and an expansion of outpatient and support services. Clinicians working at the hospital enjoy a challenging and rewarding clinical case mix that includes busy inpatient and outpatient general medicine, paediatrics, surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics & gynaecology, and mental health services. These core inpatient services are well integrated with active emergency medicine, anaesthetic, and intensive care departments, supported by a wide range of allied health services.

Essential criteria

• Mandatory possession of a qualification from a registered tertiary institution and Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practising certificate is essential.

• Registration with the Medical Board of Australia with Specialist recognition, and

• Fellowship or eligibility for Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) is highly desirable.
