Located at RAAF Base Wagga, this role places you at the heart of the Air Force’s technical training schools. You will deliver primary medical services to service personnel, ensuring the health and readiness of Air Force trainees. In addition to medical services, the base offers nursing, dental, mental health, and physiotherapy care. You’ll be working in standard hours from 0700-1600, Monday to Friday, with opportunities to contribute across both Wagga and Kapooka (Army Barracks) as needed.

The Role

- Delivering holistic primary health care in an outpatient setting, with a strong focus on Occupational Medicine and Men’s & Women’s Health including Sexual Health and Mental Health

- Educating and supporting patients, promoting wellness and healthy living, and assessing fitness to return to training

- Providing medical advice to relevant Unit Commanders and Health Centre Managers, and updating/maintaining accurate patient records on the online health platform

- Responding to medical emergencies and referring patients on to other Medical Specialists and Allied Health services as required

The Location

Located in Forest Hill (13 mins drive from Wagga Wagga), RAAF Wagga is known as the ‘Home of the Airman’ responsible for delivering Air Force Recruit training, as well as technical and non-technical Initial & Post Employment training to Air Force members. With approximately 1,600 personnel on-base, the Wagga Health Centre provides a range of primary care services including General Medical, Dental, Nursing, Mental Health & Psychology, Physiotherapy and Pharmacy, operating Monday-Friday from 0700-1600 hrs.

Requirements

Essential:

- FRACGP/FACRRM or Vocational Registration + full AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner

- Evidence of recent participation in CPD and a current CPR Certificate

- Australian Citizenship

Desirable:

- 2 years post-qualification experience as a GP in a private practice/outpatient setting

- Equivilent General Practice experience of 2 years full time in the last 5 years (3900 hours)

- Self-starter who is collaborative, with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

GP Registrars who are close to obtaining their Fellowship will also be considered, previous ADF employees or ADF reservists encouraged to apply

The successful candidate MUST have Australian Citizenship, and will be required to obtain AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance.
