Duration: Ongoing
Conditions: As a National Locum GP, you will have the chance to work at ADF bases nationwide, providing healthcare to service personnel at various locations based on operational requirements. Most ADF bases are in regional areas, offering you the opportunity to experience diverse communities and landscapes.

You’ll be supported with full FIFO/DIDO travel expenses, including flights, accommodation, and a living away from home allowance. Flexible arrangements include part-time, fixed-term contracts with the potential for extension.

Part-time commitment is perfect for maintaining your GP skillset whilst travelling or supplemented by ED, AMS or other GP locum/perm work
- Any blocks 45-minutes outside of your home address include flight (or mileage), car and accommodation + $50 per day working away from home allowance
- Regular locums who commit to fixed-term contracts may opt to train up in Aviation or Underwater Medicine (case-by-case basis)


==Role==

- Delivering high quality outpatient and inpatient medical care, with a strong focus on Men’s & Women’s Health including Sexual Health, Mental Health, Rehabilitation and performing minor surgical procedures
- Conducting pre and post deployment health check-ups and/or fitness assessments, supporting patients and promoting wellness and healthy living
- Providing medical advice to relevant Unit Commanders and Health Centre Managers, and updating/maintaining accurate patient records on the online health platform
- Responding to medical emergencies and referring patients on to other Medical Specialists and Allied Health services as required


==Commitment==

- There are 10x National locum positions available with the ADF, you will be expected to be flexible on where you are deployed and must offer a minimum commitment of one week in four, or three months per year.
- Once onboarded, you provide your available dates and liaise with the regional operations manager to plan blocks in advance or a current vacancy that needs to be filled
- Plenty of notice will be provided if you are required to travel outside of your home state
- Recruitment is ASAP and ongoing, accepting commencement dates/availability anytime between now and June 2025, or until all positions are filled
- Some bases may require weekend on-call coverage (phone only, general practice only) shared as per roster

Locums with increased availability and flexibility may wish to consider the permanent "Bench" position with the ADF - payment is regardless if you are deployed or not.

Credentials: Essential:

- FRACGP/FACRRM or Vocational Registration + full AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner
- Evidence of recent participation in CPD and a current CPR Certificate
- Australian Citizenship

Desirable:

- 2 years post-qualification experience as a GP in a private practice/outpatient setting
- Equivilent General Practice experience of 2 years full time in the last 5 years (3900 hours)
- Self-starter who is collaborative, with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

GP Registrars who are close to obtaining their Fellowship will also be considered, previous ADF employees or ADF reservists encouraged to apply
