The Position
Opportunities are available for consultant psychiatrists to join a large rural hospital that is committed to making a difference within the local community. There are roles for both General Adult and Child Youth and Adolescent Psychiatrists. Your primary focus will be to provide exceptional clinical care to individuals presenting with psychiatric, alcohol and other drug, emotional and/or behavioural disturbances. While supporting ongoing education through supervision and teaching of junior medical staff and medical students.
Child Youth and Adolescent – Community based position, you will provide some services to the rural communities in the region, in addition to supporting the Child and Youth Mental Health Service based in the hospital. A portion of your role will include providing support to the Child and Adolescent Court Liaison Forensic Mental Health service.
Adult Psychiatrist – Both Inpatient and community services are available, either separately or integrated.
The Hospital
The hospital is a large regional hospital that services 10 rural hospitals and multi-purpose health facilities across the region. This 236-bed hospital is undergoing an exciting period of growth with a redevelopment plan to provide additional inpatient beds and further outpatient and support services. The Mental Health and Alcohol & Other Drugs service is an acute mental health inpatient facility that provides services including acute care, Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Continuing Care Team, Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team, Early Psychosis, Child and Youth Mental Health, Older Persons Mental Health and Alcohol & Other Drugs Service.
