The Position

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Clinical Director – Intensive Care to lead a dedicated and highly skilled ICU team within one of New Zealand’s major regional health providers. This pivotal role is ideal for a senior intensivist who thrives on combining strategic leadership with hands-on clinical engagement.

You will be responsible for overseeing the clinical performance, operational delivery, and development of intensive care services, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and national health goals. Working closely with hospital leadership and multidisciplinary teams, you will champion a culture of safety, equity, innovation, and continuous improvement.

This is a large, well-resourced tertiary facility servicing a population of over 800,000 people. The ICU delivers full-spectrum critical care, including general medical, surgical, trauma, neuro, and cardiac services. The department is accredited for Intensive Care Medicine training and is committed to excellence in clinical teaching, research, and collaborative care.

As Clinical Director, you will lead a department recognised for its strong values, team cohesion, and commitment to delivering equitable, patient-centred care.
