Doctors are paid for this time. Accommodation provided and travel up to $800 reimbursed (flights or mileage only). Shifts vary from theatre lists to on-call duties. The roster is flexible and may change on the day depending on operational needs. Daily rates remain consistent regardless of shift type, except for second on-call arrangements. Second on call is not an advertised shift and is an internal arrangement within the Anaesthetic team to provide backup for after-hours emergencies. Contact will only be made by the first on call or their delegate. Anaesthetists will not be paid the daily rate for being second on call unless they are called in. If called in, the daily rate will be paid upon submission of the reason, MRN, and relevant details in the comments section of the VMoney claim. Agencies are responsible for ensuring doctors are aware of the second on-call structure and conditions. Manning Hospital will notify SMLMU and the doctor directly if they are rostered as second on call. If the doctor is called in, Manning will also notify SMLMU so the agency can issue an amended confirmation.       The Position

      An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist – Anaesthesia to join a growing anaesthetic service within a major regional health service.

      Working alongside the Director of Anaesthesia, you will provide high-quality specialist anaesthetic care across a broad range of clinical services, including obstetrics, gynaecology, orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, dental procedures, and procedural sedation.

      The role includes participation in pre-anaesthetic assessment clinics, acute pain service rounds, perioperative care, and the after-hours and weekend on-call roster. Candidates with experience in acute and/or chronic pain management will be highly regarded.

      You will contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, education, and research activities, while supporting the supervision and teaching of anaesthetic trainees, junior medical staff, and medical students.       The Hospital

      The hospital is a major regional referral facility providing specialist services across Central Queensland. The facility includes four operating theatres, two procedure rooms, and an 8-bed Intensive Care/High Dependency Unit supporting a diverse range of surgical and medical services.

      The Anaesthesia Department provides comprehensive perioperative services across multiple specialties and is accredited for specialist training. The team supports anaesthesia trainees, intensive care trainees, junior doctors, and acute pain services while contributing to education, research, and ongoing service development.

      As part of a regional health network, the service provides care across multiple facilities, with opportunities to support surrounding hospitals in line with clinical capability and service needs.

      Essential Criteria

      • MBBS with eligibility for AHPRA registration
      • Specialist registration (or eligibility) in Anaesthesia with FANZCA
