| Conditions: | Lismore Base Hospital is a regional referral Level 5 base hospital with state-of-the-art operating theatre suite, ICU/CCU, imaging, Cardiac Cath Lab and most major specialties and subspecialties. The Lismore Base Hospital Emergency Department is a compre-hensive level 5 Emergency Department and is the designated Trauma Centre for North-ern NSW with on-site roof top helipad as part of our Retrieval Service. We are looking for an experienced Specialist Physician/s who will cover the Hospital in the Home (HITH) Service. The Specialist will work 0800-1700hours each day. The position is hospital based and covers both hospital and community. The position will provide contemporary comprehensive Specialist General Medicine services within a Hospital in the Home (HITH) service at Lismore Base Hospital and medical oversight for HITH services across the district and the Urgent Care Service, Tweed. The Specialist will provide clinical leadership, participate in quality improvement activi-ties and provide training and education to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice. Supervision and training of Junior Medical Officers is a requirement. Standard daily rate is $2500 per day (24hour period) all-inclusive as per NSW Health capped rates. We will provide basic accommodation/allowance, hire car and reimburse reasonable travel. Please ensure any locum presented for our consideration is job ready and has current NSW working with children clearance, national criminal record clearance and has completed all mandatory training modules including eMR and eMEDS prior to com-mencement. | |||

PRIMARY PURPOSE See all medical admissions and decide on their management including obtaining the services of specialist medical staff when necessary KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES • Provide clinical care of all medical patients on assigned ward ensuring ward rounds are completed, comprehensive medical records for each occasion of service are maintained and the review of all patients prior to discharge. • Discharge patients from assigned ward ensuring patient has appropriate prescriptions on discharge with patient discharge summaries being completed and returned to Medical Records. • Ensure the relevant consultant is aware of any admissions to assigned ward and of any deaths on the ward with consideration of the need for referral to Coroner. • Supervise the Medical Resident/Intern and act as clinical resource and teacher for medical students and junior doctors. • Provide on call shifts as rostered on HealthRoster. • Respond to MET calls. • Complete or assist as requested with the completion of legal and police reports on patients seen. • Attend educational and clinical audit activities organised by the Hospital and be prepared to participate in these and other quality programs. • Manage and develop people, inspire direction and purpose, optimise business outcomes, manage and reform change, and optimise rostering capability. KEY CHALLENGES Showing a commitment to effective handover, given the competing priorities within a busy clinical setting. • Health Service reliance on locum medical officers. • Developing strong working relationships with a multidisciplinary workforce. | |||
