The Position

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Respiratory & Sleep Medicine Specialist to join the Department of Medicine across two major hospitals. In this senior role, you will provide high-quality specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with respiratory and sleep-related conditions across inpatient, outpatient and procedural settings. You will contribute to service development and clinical governance, lead multidisciplinary case discussions and drive evidence-based, patient-centred care. Key responsibilities include establishing a standard bronchoscopy service, progressing toward advanced bronchology accreditation and leading a regular clinico-radiologic-pathology MDT for lung cancer on the Fraser Coast. The role also involves supporting collaboration with private respiratory physicians, participating in quality improvement and clinical audits and providing education, supervision and research leadership for trainees, junior doctors and students. This position requires strong clinical leadership, a commitment to human rights principles, and dedication to improving health outcomes for the Fraser Coast community.

Essential criteria

• Medical qualification from a recognised tertiary institution and current registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine or eligibility for Fellowship, including maintenance of CPD.
• Specialist registrants are preferred; however, non-specialists or overseas-trained specialists may be considered where significant progress toward fellowship is demonstrated.
