The Position

An exciting opportunity is available for a Consultant Gastroenterologist to join a collaborative and progressive regional health service in New South Wales. In this role, you will provide contemporary, comprehensive specialist services in Gastroenterology to achieve optimal patient outcomes. You will also support and contribute to the education and supervision of clinicians across multiple disciplines, fostering quality education and safe clinical practice.

The role involves participation in the General Medicine on-call roster at the hospital, working alongside a collegial team of physicians. You will utilise health information systems to support informed clinical decision-making and care planning, communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care, and actively participate in clinical governance, quality improvement and risk management programs. In addition, you will contribute to service development and provide specialist advice and support across the district.

Essential criteria

• Registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Physician in Gastroenterology and Hepatology (FRACP).
• Demonstrated significant experience in Gastroenterology at the appropriate level of service.
• Demonstrated effective clinical communication skills, including written, verbal, interpersonal and information technology skills.
