It has a multicultural heritage and is known for its fresh produce, scenic mountain bike riding, bird watching, hot air ballooning, wineries and coffee plantations. The region boasts 300 sunny days per year and includes nearby attractions of Kuranda Historic Village, Chillagoe Caves and Wheelbarrow Way, and Granite Gorge Mareeba Hospital is a 40 bed level 3 general hospital that sees 25,000 patients through ED and 200 births per annum, with outreach to Dimbulah and Lotus Glen Correctional Centre, and a GP clinic that sees 6000 patients per annum. | |||
