FACEM: We are seeking a Locum ED FACEM VMO to join Armidale Hospital’s Emergency Department in a unique role. This position offers the chance to practise high-impact emergency medicine in a rural regional setting, with significant autonomy and exposure to a diverse and often complex caseload. While the workload can at times be high and junior support is limited, this creates an excellent opportunity for a confident FACEM to take on meaningful leadership, shape clinical processes, and enjoy hands-on, broadly scoped emergency practice. Armidale itself is a highly liveable city in the New England region of NSW, known for its cool climate, four distinct seasons, national parks, waterfalls, and strong cultural and educational community. Travel is convenient: it’s an easy 5.5–6.5-hour drive from both Sydney and Brisbane, and Armidale Airport offers direct flights to Sydney (QantasLink) and Brisbane (Link Airways). The town combines the charm and community of rural life with the amenities of a well-established regional centre. For a FACEM seeking variety, independence, and the chance to experience the rewards of rural emergency medicine, this locum role offers a rare and exciting opportunity. GP VMO: We are seeking a GP VMO with high-level ED experience to join Armidale Hospital’s Emergency Department in a unique opportunity. This role offers broad clinical exposure across a varied and often complex rural caseload, allowing a skilled GP with ED capability to work at the top of their scope. The workload can be demanding and senior/junior support may be limited at times, but this creates an ideal environment for a confident clinician to apply their experience, exercise meaningful autonomy, and make a direct impact on patient care in a regional setting.
