The Position

This role is based within a Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC) at a major tertiary hospital in Western Sydney, sitting at the frontline of acute mental health care. You’ll provide consultant psychiatric care in a high‑acuity environment in a high‑acuity, fast‑moving environment, supporting people at points of acute psychological distress through timely assessment, stabilisation and clear clinical decision‑making. Working closely with Emergency Medicine, general medical teams and psychiatry services, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring safe, effective care pathways and continuity across the hospital and broader mental health system.

This position is well suited to a psychiatrist who thrives in dynamic clinical settings, values collaboration, and brings a calm, considered approach to complex presentations. Alongside direct clinical care, you’ll contribute to team supervision, service quality and good clinical governance, with opportunities to be involved in education, training and quality improvement.

Essential Criteria 

Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia via the Specialist Pathway (Substantially Comparable) or Expedited Specialist Pathway.
