The Position

Multiple opportunities are available for Consultant Psychiatrists to join a large and well-established mental health service in Northern New South Wales.

Whether your interests lie in Adult Inpatient, Adult Community, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Older Persons Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, or Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, there are a range of positions and locations available across the district. Both Staff Specialist and Visiting Medical Officer appointments are being considered, with flexible full-time and part-time arrangements available.

Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will provide contemporary psychiatric care while contributing to service development, clinical leadership, teaching, supervision and quality improvement initiatives. The service supports psychiatrists with varied clinical interests and provides opportunities to practise within your preferred scope while collaborating with experienced mental health professionals across inpatient and community settings.

Psychiatrists with an interest in education, research, service innovation and workforce development will find ample opportunity to contribute beyond direct clinical care.

The Hospital

This large regional mental health service delivers comprehensive care across a network of hospitals and community services, supporting a diverse and growing population throughout Northern New South Wales.

Services span inpatient, community, consultation-liaison, older persons, addiction and child and adolescent mental health programs. Psychiatrists work alongside experienced nurses, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, peer workers and trainee doctors within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

Essential Criteria 

Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia via the Specialist Pathway (Substantially Comparable) or Expedited Specialist Pathway.
