The Position

This is a unique opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a specialist, accredited service focused on addiction recovery and mental health. The role is part‑time (approximately two on‑site days per week), including MDT meetings and a weekly psychotherapy group.

You’ll work with voluntary patients actively engaged in change, within a therapeutic community model that supports meaningful transformation and long‑term recovery. The environment is non‑traditional, collaborative, and deeply purpose‑led.

You’ll be supported by a strong multidisciplinary team, with opportunities to contribute to program development and participate in the Medical Advisory Committee.

The Hospital

The service is a family‑owned, accredited psychiatric hospital known for its compassionate, ethical approach, providing inpatient detox and withdrawal care, psychiatric day programs, and integrated addiction and mental health treatment across 28 beds, including 8 accredited overnight beds.

Programs are doctor‑developed and clinically overseen, incorporating a range of therapeutic approaches including individual counselling, group therapy, relapse prevention, art therapy, and equine therapy. Care is highly individualised, with tailored recovery plans designed to support sustainable outcomes.

The Location

Located in regional Victoria, approximately 50 minutes from Melbourne, the service is set on expansive, tranquil grounds that support reflection and healing. The peaceful environment allows for flexibility in how care is delivered, including the option to conduct consultations outdoors.

Essential Criteria

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP)
• Specialist registration with AHPRA
