The Position

An opportunity exists for an experienced Anaesthetics Consultant to join a regional Anaesthetic Department, delivering high-quality anaesthetic care across a broad range of specialties, including trauma, orthopaedics, general surgery, obstetrics, paediatrics, ENT, dental, ECT and endoscopy. The role includes perioperative care, acute pain management, obstetric epidural services, participation in trauma and cardiac arrest teams and after-hours and weekend rosters.

As an accredited training department, you will be involved in the supervision and education of anaesthetic registrars and junior medical staff, while contributing to clinical governance, safety, quality and service development initiatives.

This 236-bed referral hospital services a network of rural hospitals and multi-purpose health facilities across a large and diverse catchment in North Queensland. The health service is entering an exciting period of growth, including a major redevelopment that will deliver additional inpatient capacity and expanded outpatient and support services. Essential criteria

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) registrable with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA), or eligibility for Fellowship.
• Specialist registration (Anaesthesia) with AHPRA.
• Demonstrated experience providing comprehensive anaesthetic services within a tertiary or regional hospital setting.
• Commitment to teaching, supervision and professional development.
