The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Anaesthetist to join a dynamic and supportive health service. In this pivotal role, you will provide high-quality anaesthetic services across a broad range of surgical specialties, including orthopaedics, trauma, general surgery, gynaecology, obstetrics, paediatrics, ENT, dental, ECT and endoscopic procedures. You will also contribute to the department’s pre-assessment clinic, acute pain and obstetric epidural services, while providing critical support to trauma and cardiac arrest teams. As part of an accredited training facility, you will have the opportunity to supervise and mentor Registrars, Principal House Officers and Junior Medical Officers and actively engage in education, audit, and research activities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a hospital undergoing significant growth, with a $250 million redevelopment planned to deliver 112 additional inpatient beds and expanded clinical services.

The facility is a 236-bed regional hospital serving a population of more than 180,000 across the region. It operates as the major referral centre for 10 rural hospitals and multipurpose facilities and is recognised for its commitment to clinical excellence, training and regional healthcare innovation. The health service is entering an exciting phase of expansion, with infrastructure upgrades underway across multiple regional sites - including those in Bowen, Moranbah, Proserpine and Clermont, continued growth and new service development opportunities for its clinical teams.

Essential criteria

• Possession of a medical degree from a recognised tertiary institution and current registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in Anaesthesia, or eligibility for such registration.
• Fellowship or eligibility for Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA).
