The Position

Step into a career-defining opportunity as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist within a forward-thinking mental health service in New South Wales. This is your chance to be part of a transformative initiative — a brand-new, purpose-built adolescent mental health unit, developed under the NSW Government’s landmark $700 million infrastructure program.

In this pivotal role, you’ll provide clinical leadership across a dynamic interdisciplinary team, delivering high-impact care to young people aged 12–17. You’ll shape treatment pathways, empower families and care networks, and contribute to key decisions that influence the future of youth mental health. Your expertise will also guide the next generation of clinicians through registrar supervision and medical student education.

This is more than a job — it’s a platform for innovation, collaboration, and meaningful change. You’ll also join a district-wide consultant after-hours roster, with scope to contribute across other areas of the mental health service, tailored to your interests and negotiated with the Medical Director.

The Hospital

This newly established adolescent mental health unit is a thoughtfully designed, 10-bed facility co-located with a major metropolitan hospital. From the ground up, it’s been shaped by the voices of young people, carers, and clinicians — creating a space that’s therapeutic, inclusive, and culturally safe.

The unit is backed by a skilled and diverse workforce, including lived experience professionals, Aboriginal health staff, and educators. Together, they deliver care that’s holistic, trauma-informed, and deeply connected to community. The partnership with the Department of Education ensures continuity of learning and wellbeing for every young person in care.
