The Position

This large, well-established service is currently seeking Forensic Psychiatrists to join its multidisciplinary team. Two positions are based within major correctional complexes in Western Sydney, while a third offers a flexible, peripatetic scope—supporting forensic services across multiple sites. Each role offers the chance to work across the largest forensic jurisdiction in Australia, with exceptional exposure to complex, high-profile cases. 

You’ll be supported by a highly experienced team of psychiatrists, registrars, and allied mental health professionals, and work in a culture that actively fosters academic and clinical development. With strong ties to local universities there are clear pathways to pursue research, teaching, and clinical leadership. 

Whether you're writing forensic reports for Supreme Court matters or navigating diverse clinical presentations, this is a role that offers both professional stretch and deep purpose.  

The Hospital 

This specialist health service plays a vital role in delivering care to some of the most complex and underserved patients in the state. Working across custodial, inpatient, court, and community settings, the team supports adults and young people navigating the criminal justice system, with a strong focus on mental health, chronic illness, substance use, and continuity of care. From correctional centres and police cells to a purpose-built, high-security forensic hospital, clinicians here are part of a truly multidisciplinary network committed to improving outcomes and transforming lives.

Essential Criteria 

Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia via the Specialist Pathway (Substantially Comparable) or Expedited Specialist Pathway.
