The Position
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and passionate Intensive Care Consultant to join a high-functioning ICU team within a modern, expanding regional hospital. The unit supports a wide and stimulating caseload, including adult and paediatric critical care, interventional cardiology, trauma, infectious diseases, and complex medical and surgical cases. You will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred intensive care services, mentoring junior staff, participating in education and simulation training, and contributing to clinical governance, research, and service development. The unit values multidisciplinary collaboration and has strong connections with local paediatrics and tertiary PICU services.
The Hospital
This 236-bed regional hospital serves a population of over 180,000 across the surrounding region. It is currently undergoing a $250 million redevelopment to add 112 inpatient beds and expand outpatient and support services. The facility acts as a major referral centre, supported by a network of rural hospitals and strong collaboration with core specialties. The Department of Medicine provides care for patients over 16 years old with a broad range of complex medical conditions requiring ongoing inpatient, ward-based treatment.
The Location

The area is just a short flight from a major metropolitan city and close to world-class natural attractions such as the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsunday Islands. Families are well-supported with a wide choice of quality schools and excellent sporting and recreational facilities.
Essential criteria
