This position requiring a physician - geriatrics. OR can look at general medicine physician with experience and interest in geriatrics.

30th June - 29th August 2025

Ideally 1 consultant for full block to ensure consistency in coverage. But can look at minimum 4 week blocks.

Details:

Geriatrician Work Plan

Workdays/Hours:

•  Monday: 0800–1630

•  Tuesday to Friday: 1400–2200

Daily Workflow:

•  1400–1430: Huddle with ASET nurse

•  1430–1600: Rounding on inpatients (allocated bed card) and inpatient consults

•  1600–2200: ED consults (geriatric reviews, admissions, and patients for medical admission)

Key Responsibilities:

•  Early screening in ED using ISAR/frailty tools within 1 hour of presentation

•  Avoid unnecessary admissions (e.g. through HITH, subacute referrals)

•  Provide CGA in ED and wards

•  Review patients for RACF transfer under Gen Med/Geriatrics

•  Liaise early with discharge planner and ASET nurse

•  Support orthogeriatric shared care for older fracture patients

•  Attend:

o  1030 MDT (daily)

o  1230 Complex Case MDT (Wednesdays)

•  Junior Medical Officer
