Rockingham General Hospital, located in Cooloongup, Western Australia, has a total capacity of 229 beds. In August 2022, the hospital expanded its capacity by opening a new 30-bed modular ward named Moordibirdup, meaning "travelling and welcome home" in consultation with local Aboriginal Elders . Elective Surgery: The hospital provides high-quality, timely, and patient-focused elective surgical services. Elective surgery refers to non-emergency surgery that is medically necessary but can be delayed for at least 24 hours. Patients scheduled for elective surgery are usually admitted through the Day Procedure Unit (DPU) and may be transferred to the Multi-Stay Surgical Unit (MSSU) if an overnight stay is required.

Multi-Stay Surgical Unit (MSSU): This unit cares for elective surgery patients requiring an overnight stay. It ensures close liaison with all members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver the highest quality of pre- and post-operative care.

Day Procedure Unit (DPU): Patients undergoing day surgery (with no overnight stay) are admitted through the DPU. After surgery, they return to the DPU and are discharged several hours later.
