The Position
You’ll join a modern, purpose-built hospital delivering integrated mental health care to a growing regional population. Working across the Acute Care Services (ACS) and Mental Health Emergency Care (MHEC) streams, you’ll provide clinical leadership within a 25-bed adult inpatient unit while supporting 24/7 mental health crisis response through the hospital’s Emergency Department.
This role is ideal for a psychiatrist who thrives in high-acuity settings and values collaborative, multidisciplinary care. You’ll play a key role in delivering evidence-based treatment for patients presenting with complex psychiatric needs, while contributing to service development, supervision, and quality improvement initiatives within a progressive and well-resourced health environment.

As part of its integrated Acute Care Services, the facility features a 25-bed adult inpatient mental health unit, offering intensive psychiatric care for both voluntary and involuntary patients in a safe, recovery-focused environment. The hospital’s 24/7 Emergency Department also plays a critical role in providing frontline assessment for individuals in mental health crisis.
Complementing its acute services, the co-located Community Mental Health team delivers comprehensive, community-based care — from urgent crisis intervention to ongoing treatment. With specialist teams supporting Aboriginal mental health, adults, young people, families, and older persons, the service ensures continuity of care and strong local engagement across the full spectrum of mental health needs.

Essential Criteria
Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia via the Specialist Pathway (Substantially Comparable) or Expedited Specialist Pathway.
