The Position
This role places you at the heart of a specialised adolescent inpatient unit within a major metropolitan hospital in Sydney. Here, you’ll deliver expert clinical care to young people navigating complex mental health challenges, working in close partnership with their families and carers to support recovery and long-term wellbeing.
You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team that integrates individual, family, and group therapies — all with the goal of transitioning patients toward less intensive, community-based support as their needs evolve.
This is more than a clinical post — it's a leadership role that allows you to shape care delivery, mentor emerging talent, and actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
The Hospital
This 12-bed adolescent inpatient unit stands at the forefront of youth mental health care. Designed for young people aged 12 to 17 navigating acute psychological challenges, the unit offers short-term, high-intensity support in a safe, nurturing environment.
Housed within a major metropolitan teaching hospital, the unit champions a collaborative, team-based model of care — uniting psychiatry, psychology, social work, and education specialists to deliver individualised treatment plans. A key feature is the onsite Learning Centre, helping patients stay connected to their education journey throughout their admission.
The Location
Northern Sydney and the northern beaches region present an enviable lifestyle by any standard. From the calming rhythm of ocean waves to the vibrant hum of local cafés and community events, this area blends coastal charm with urban convenience.
You'll enjoy seamless access to golden beaches, peaceful bushland trails, and sparkling waterways ideal for surfing, swimming, kayaking, or simply unwinding in nature. Whether you’re drawn to the relaxed energy of beachside living or the leafy tranquillity of family-friendly suburbs, you’ll find your place here — all within easy reach of the Sydney CBD.
Essential Criteria
Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia via the Specialist Pathway (Substantially Comparable) or Expedited Specialist Pathway.
