The Position
This permanent, full-time opportunity invites a dedicated psychiatrist to provide specialist services within a leading health service, covering the southern and central regions of Queensland. The role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities, including Community Forensic Outreach Service, QLD Fixated Threat Assessment Centre, Court Liaison Service, Indigenous Mental Health Intervention Program, Police Communications Centre Mental Health Liaison Service, and Parole Board Liaison. The successful candidate will deliver expert psychiatric care to forensic and high-risk consumers, collaborate across various programs, and contribute to the strategic development of mental health services.
The Hospital
The service provides specialist mental health services to individuals who have, or are at risk of having, contact with the criminal justice system. This includes assessment, treatment, and support for people with mental health conditions who are involved in legal proceedings, incarcerated, or under community supervision. The service works across various settings, including courts, prisons, and the community, with the aim of promoting both individual recovery and public safety.

Essential Criteria
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry or equivalent postgraduate specialist qualification.
- Eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Psychiatry with the Medical Board of Australia and eligibility for accreditation as a RANZCP – approved supervisor.
- Enrolment in or completion of the Certificate of Advanced Training in Forensic Psychiatry (or equivalent) is preferred.
- A Class ‘C’ motor vehicle license.
