Richmond Network consists of the following Hospitals and Multipurpose Services: Ballina District Hospital Bonalbo Multipurpose Service Kyogle Multipurpose Service Lismore Base Hospital Nimbin Multipurpose Service Urbenville Multipurpose Service We are looking for an experienced Director Medical Services for the Richmond Network. The primary objective of the Director Medical Services is to ensure the safe, effective and efficient delivery of the range of Medical Services as negotiated with the Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD). The Director Medical Services will implement, monitor and evaluate medical service activities directed toward continuous quality improvement and best clinical practice including but not limited to: Clinical Governance and Clinical Risk Management Morbidity and Mortality Review Sentinel Incident Review Collection, review and action on Hospital-wide and specific clinical indicators NSQHS Standards and HETI Coordinate, monitor and evaluate the delivery of medical services at both strategic and operational levels for the Service. Provide oversight of Activity Based funding model for Medical Workforce to ensure budget requirements are met. Actively participate and contribute to the development and implementation of action plans to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) and other NSW Health and Commonwealth initiatives. These include but are not limited to expenditure and revenue targets, waiting list and access indicators, hospital activity targets, case mix targets, elective performance targets, elective surgery targets and safety and quality initiatives. Provide Human Resource management through implementing and overseeing efficient human resource processes and systems for induction, staff support, rosters, leave cover, authorisation of sessional/fee for service payments, annual/conference leave entitlements and database management as well as recruitment of Senior Medical Staff. Ensure all the administrative matters associated with the appointment procedures of Visiting Medical Officers, Staff Specialists and Junior Medical Staff are in accordance with appropriate industrial awards, agreements and the By[1]Laws of the Northern NSW Local Health District. This will include the credentialing, appointment and individual performance management of all Medical Staff and Visiting Medical Officers. The position will be based at Lismore Base Hospital which is a regional referral Level 5 base hospital with state-of-the-art operating theatre suite, ICU/CCU, imaging, Cardiac Cath Lab and most major specialties and subspecialties. The Lismore Base Hospital Emergency Department is a comprehensive level 5 Emergency Department and is the designated Trauma Centre for Northern NSW with on-site roof top helipad as part of our Retrieval Service. We are a teaching hospital with a strong Senior and Junior Medical Workforce. Working hours are: Monday to Friday – business hours The DMS will participate as part of the Executive After Hours On Call There may be the requirement to attend some meetings after business hours We would like the Locum Director Medical Services to commence no later than the 14th October 2024. At this time we will consider a temporary appointment up to three months with an option to extend if needed. Standard daily rate is $2500/day (24hour period) all-inclusive. We will provide accommodation if available, hire car and reimburse reasonable travel. NB Good accommodation is in short supply and we no longer have the facility to provide self-contained/family accommodation. We are able to pay a daily allowance to assist with cost if Specialists choose to arrange their own accommodation.
