The hospital is ideally suited to those with a particular interest in rural health care. Services provided at the hospital include: Chemotherapy treatment, Day Procedure Unit, Emergency Medicine (24 hour emergency service), Laboratory (pathology), Maternity Women's Health, Medical Imaging, Medical/Surgical, Palliative Care, Paediatric, Rehabilitation, Renal and Pharmacy. Visiting Sub-specialties include Anaesthetics, Gastroenterology, General Medicine, General Surgery, Geriatrics, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Orthopaedic Surgery, Paediatrics, and Ear Nose and Throat Surgery. A four-bed acute stroke unit has recently been established alongside improved access to diabetes services and the establishment of a short stay and medical assessment and planning service. Going forwards the hospital will benefit from a region-wide commitment of $2.2 million for cardiology services, $4.9 million for ophthalmology services and $2.7 million for other health care services. == The Location == You will be living in a heritage town of 35,000 people that is situated 160 kilometres north of Brisbane. The quiet, laid back lifestyle is a large appeal of this region. Real estate is very affordable. The average price for a three bedroom is about $350 000. For a similar house, on a small amount of acreage it is only about $50 000 more.  This area is fast growing and offers all the conveniences of modern living. There are many schools in the area including seven primary schools, two state high and three private schools. The town is very spacious and there are many large parks for families to enjoy BBQs.
