The department offers a good general caseload and duties reflective of a teaching hospital, but in a regional setting. You will be responsible for the direct clinical care of patients and developing and implementing training programs for junior medical staff and medical students. The Hospital The appointment is based in a major regional public hospital that consists of 103 inpatient beds across six wards ? surgical, acute psychiatric unit, medical, maternity, paediatrics, and a high dependency unit. Other services on offer include home and community care, intensive care, pathology, pharmacy and rehabilitation. The hospital shares many facilities with the 120 bed private hospital that is located within the same campus. This helps to boost the range of medical, surgical and community health services available, ensuring the best possible care to patients.  == The Location == You will be living in one of Western Australia?s largest towns. Located 2 hours? drive south of Perth, this major business centre offers all the benefits of city-living including commercial opportunities, facilities, education and attractions mixed into a lush seaside setting with a country pace. Many of the attractions are nature-based, due to the temperate climate and picturesque sandy beaches. Here you can spend your spare time fishing, swimming, surfing, windsurfing or snorkelling in the beautiful clear blue water. Another option is to take a trip to see wild dolphins in their natural habitat. If you prefer to stay on dry land then just a short half an hour drive takes you to Western Australia?s premiere wine region, where you can go to relax in the wineries and experience some of the famous, local produce. == Essential Criteria == To be successful in applying for this position you must hold FRACP or be close to obtaining your fellowship and be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Substantial clinical experience relevant to the role is highly desired along with experience in quality improvement and effective risk management.
