You will provide a comprehensive psychiatric service and high standard of care for adult mental health clients in the southern region of Tasmania. You will be an integral member of the adult multidisciplinary mental health team and will participate in clinical reviews and provide consultancy services to other team members across the treatment settings. You will also undertake supervisory responsibilities with Psychiatric Registrars and other medical staff as required/appropriate and participate in teaching of medical students and other trainees. Your immediate team consists of four Consultant Psychiatrists and there are 20 psychiatrists whom work across the Mental Health Service.

You will be working at Tasmania's largest hospital and its major referral centre. This tertiary hospital has close links with the University of Tasmania and is a teaching and research hospital. The hospital provides acute, sub-acute, mental health and aged care inpatient and ambulatory services to a population of about 240,000 people in the southern region and has 550 physical beds, including 460 acute overnight and 90 day beds. In terms of the mental health service, the PICU has 8 beds and the DOP 30 beds.
