If offers emergency medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, medicine, cardiology, nephrology, paediatrics, rehabilitation and an 11 bed intensive care/high dependency unit.   The Queensland Government has planned a $47.95 million redevelopment for this hospital to include the emergency dept.   The city is perfectly located at the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef; a World Heritage listed area that spans more than 2000km of Queensland's coastline.  Fine beaches and beautiful hinterland are close at hand.
