This is the major health provider in the district. There are 2,500 general paediatric admissions per year and up to 1,500 births per year. The hospital is serviced by all general specialist services with some adult sub-specialties and a variety of visiting paediatric sub-specialists. Ambulatory services are provided by a dedicated home care unit and an active outpatient service. Current outpatient services include general paediatrics, developmental / behavioral paediatrics, immigrant health and outreach clinics to peripheral centres and the indigenous health service. A level 2 special care nursery admits up to 400 babies per year and has a dedicated neonatal staff and provides nasal CPAP for respiratory distress. For this general paediatric position you will be involved in a 1 in 4 on call arrangement, you will provide ambulatory general paediatric consultation in various paediatric clinics and you will be involved in medical student teaching.
