A full day of orientation in Darwin which includes Medicare training, PCIS training and CARPA training before you fly out to the community.     == The Location == The community is serviced by twice daily air flights. The population of around 3,000 comprises town residents and traditionally-based out-stations, of which there are more than 30.    There are 13 language groups comprising speakers from the surrounding country. This is a spectacular land with a mix of salt and freshwater environments, famous fishing and world-renowned artists provide an enticing distraction from the engaging medical work involved in == The Position ==s.  There is a school, police station, two supermarkets, food and takeaway stores, a pool and recreation hall.  This is a dry community and if you wish to drink alcohol during the locum a permit must obtained.   The clinic is open from 9am to 4pm and you will be working from 8am to 5pm Mon to Fri. The clinic is large and full equipped.  After Hours call outs are covered by the Nurse on call. The resident doctor is called in if required or as advised by the DMO on call from Darwin.   The Support You will join a large multi-disciplinary team including Remote Area Nurses and Aboriginal Health Workers to deliver clinical and public health services to the community and outstations.    Clinical support will be provided by a combination of other local GPs, Darwin based District Medical Officers, including telephone consultations and medical retrievals via Careflight. Royal Darwin Hospital is the back-up for tertiary care, whilst a range of specialists visit the community regularly. IMPORTANT - from 1st July 2011 doctors working in the NT must have a NT Working with Children Check clearance.
