You will be working Monday-Friday 8am ? 5pm, the clinic closes at 4pm but a few consultations run over. Lunch is 1 hour. 2 nights per week on-call is required (emergencies only - 2 RAN's on-call, GP support if required by RAN's). Callbacks are minimal and infrequent, particularly in the Jan-Feb period when there is a low population and very few tourists around.  As a rough guide, during the same 2 month period last year, there was only 1 occasion where a GP was required after hours. You will be supported by a team of 5 RNs, 3 AHWs, a practice manager and admin staff.  You will be working with another GP and a junior doctor will also be in the clinic who will require some support and guidance from you. The spacious and airconditioned clinic utilises PCIS and features 3 GP rooms, one treatment room with 5 beds and 4 AHWs rooms.  It would be advantageous if you have PCIS experience. Appointments are book at 30 minute intervals and GPs generally see 2-3 patients per hour.  The town has a population of approx 1500 and the patient base is made up of an equal mix of non-indigenous and indigenous patients. Indigenous patients will see an AHW before seeing the GP. Visiting specialists include a general surgeon, O&G consultant, paediatrician, eye specialists, medical imaging, speech therapist and physiotherapist. You will earn $950 per day + GST. Fully furnished accommodation and 4x4 vehicle are available. Flights provided as well as a vehicle you can drive from Darwin to the town. == The Location == The town features small plaza with a supermarket, post office, hair dressers, café, fishing shop, video outlet, bank and bakery. Recreational activities include netball, golfing (9 hole gold course) fishing, cricket, swimming (away from the crocs!), rugby, football and of course explore the beautiful Kakadu National Park. The local school caters for preschoolers to Year 12. The town also has a police station and fire station.
