The clinic is open from 8.00am until 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, and you can take an afternoon off during the week if you'd like. You may be required to work every second Saturday morning 9am - 12pm. There is no other after hours work required and the clinic is closed on public holidays. You?ll earn 65% of gross income, or minimum of $1200 per day, whichever is greatest. Accommodation is available in the form of a very comfortable, modern self contained unit situated closer to the centre of Cairns, and car and travel expenses can also be provided. == The Practice == You will be situated in a modest sized shopping centre just south of Cairns - with a pharmacy and a pathology collection centre nearby. It?s a rapidly growing area with lots of young families, mature working people and a fair proportion of retired/elderly patients. They also have a large share of ATSI patients and other ethnic groups such as Laos, Filipino, and Pacific Islanders, and many low income/socially disadvantaged patients. There is a wealth of diverse and interesting pathology and the clinic participates in shared antenatal care and childhood vaccinations with Cairns Base Hospital. == The Practice == is fully computerised with Medical Director and Medilink. All rooms have instant access to the internet and the front desk is responsible for all the appointments and billing of patients. They have a dedicated procedure room for minor ops, and you will be welcome to do any procedure you feel competent to do (with the surgical instruments that are available). The majority of the patients are bulk billed due to their age or social circumstances - however there are numerous opportunities for GP Care Plans, diabetic assessments, Mental Health Care Plans and Over 75 Health assessments. You will be working alongside 1 full time and 1 part-time doctor. There is usually a receptionist on the desk for each doctor working, and at least 1 nurse on duty from 8.00am until 4.30pm.   == The Location == You'll have easy access to the Great Barrier Reef, the tropical rainforests, the Tablelands and Cape York.
