This hospital offers a wide range of specialty and support services.  Redeveloped during 2000 / 2002 at a project cost of $26.2 million, the hospital offers you good working conditions, professional growth opportunities and varied professional responsibility. The hospital hosts several SHO training posts and has a Medical Staff Support Unit and Medical Education Unit to provide professional development for all levels and delivery of accredited junior doctor training. The Division of Medicine provides internal medicine services for the hospital and surrounding district. It has an allocation of 44 medical beds, 5 coronary care beds, 11 palliative care beds (including chemotherapy) and outpatient clinics each week. Outreach services to other hospitals in Health Service District may also be delivered. Sub-speciality areas are Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care and Rehabilitation.  Within general medicine there is specific expertise in dermatology, STDs, liver disease, diabetes and respiratory medicine. The Division of Medicine currently consists of 13 Consultants (Visiting Medical Officers and Staff Specialists), 13.5 Principal House Officers, 6 Senior Medical Officers/Junior Medical Officers and 8 Interns (increasing to 10 in 2011). The Cardiology department does not have a cath lab, but has a quite busy cardiac investigations unit and is now seeking a Specialist Cardiologist with the ability to: read echos, stress echos, contrast echos, CTA and cardiac MRI. In addition they also have a 5 beds CCU with a very high occupancy rate (most days see 8 patients) and 3 out patient clinics weekly.   The city is located on the Tropic of Capricorn, 640 km north of Brisbane. It is situated on the Fitzroy River, and is a 30-minute drive from the Pacific Ocean. Its location, between the beautiful Capricorn Coast and the rural hinterland will provide you with a wide choice of recreational pursuits, as well as offering you all the benefits of metropolitan living. The city and its surrounds offer a number of attractions, including the Botanical Gardens and Zoo, the Dreamtime Cultural Centre and the Olsen Caves, a series of spectacular limestone caves. Within the city, many fine public and private buildings have been lovingly restored and exude a historic atmosphere and sophistication. == Essential Criteria == ? FRACP or equivalent ? Experience in Cardiac MRI would be an advantage. ? Extensive experience in non-invasive Cardiology is needed as the appointee will be expected to perform stress echocardiographs, ambulatory BP studies and Holter monitoring.
