Seeking a caring vocationally registered GP with indigenous health experience to locum from Monday 10th October - Friday 28th October. Why not combine this locum with the Rural Medicine Australia 2011 conference being held in Alice Springs from Fri 28 - Sun 30 Oct. You will be working as a member of a primary health care team and depending on the distance, travelling by car or light aircraft to 1-3 remote communities each week. Support in the communities is provided by welcoming, friendly and committed staff. You will work in the clinics during the day and be required to stay in the communities during the week (accommodation provided). You will see an interesting and diverse range of medicine and be involved in the treatment of chronic illnesses, diabetes, chronic disease, asthma, poor nutrition, acute pneumonia, women?s health (you must be trained for Implanon insertion), etc.  Plenty of support is provided to prepare you for the locum. You will complete a 3 hour phone training session prior to the locum and you will also have additional training/orientation on your first day in Alice Springs which includes Medicare and PCIS (Primary Care Information System) training. Your typical work day will be 8.00am ? 5.00pm Monday to Friday however some days may be longer than others due to travelling time between the communities and Alice Springs. With no on-call or weekend work required make the most of this fantastic opportunity to explore a part of Australia that a privileged few will ever get to see. You will earn $1200 per day + GST. Return economy flights to Alice Springs and accommodation in Alice Springs is provided on the weekends in air-conditioned, secure and fully furnished town houses that feature a kitchen, washing machine, open plan living and dining area, tv and a small backyard.  Accommodation may be shared with other doctors during busy periods. == The Location == This locum will take you to some of the most beautiful remote locations in the world. You will be captivated by the dramatic scenery - red desert landscapes, deep gorges, sheer cliff faces and iconic sites.
