You will be delivering acute clinical care, chronic disease management and public health programs in a cross-cultural setting.   Work is undertaken in a multi-disciplinary team delivering clinical and public health services to the residents of the community and surrounding outstations.   You will be provided with a full day of orientation in Darwin which includes Medicare training, PCIS training and CARPA training before you fly out to the community. A full range of support is available for you from other local GPs, Aboriginal Health Workers, Darwin and Gove hospitals, Aerial Medical Services telephone consultation and medical retrievals. Previous indigenous health and emergency experience preferred ? the client will require evidence of recent courses/training.   After hours call outs are covered by the Nurse on call. The resident doctor is called in if required or as advised by the DMO on call from Darwin or Gove.   You will earn $6000 per week + GST. Oncall is $150 per hour for a minimum of 2 hours for any call outs. Accommodation and flights will be provided and a doctor's vehicle is usually available afterhours.   Generally you will have access to a practice vehicle which you can use afterhours. One night of accommodation will be provided in Darwin so you can attend training the next day and then you will head out to the community. Flights will be reimbursed for your partner if you locum for a minimum of 4 weeks.       Wadeye, Daly River Reserve. ASAP-10 Feb and 30 March - 11 May You will be working the new 7.6 million government funded clinic which also features an emergency room, a pharmacy and has digital x-ray equipment. Wadeye is one of the largest remote indigenous communities in the NT.  It is situated 270 km southwest of Darwin (417 km by road) or 50 minutes by air.  Wadeye is near the coast of the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf, on the edge of the Daly River Reserve near the border of WA. The population is approximately 2700-3000.    Services available in the community include:  a Centrelink, banking/credit union, airport, store/supermarket, takeaway, library, church, arts centre, police station and a courthouse.  There is a local school catering for 4-19 year olds.   - This is a solo post however the clinic can accommodate two doctors if you wish organise a joint locum. A team of AHW and RNs are available for support. Royal Darwin Hospital is the regional hospital and provides tertiary care. - Clinic hours are from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday.      Yirrkala, North East Arnhemland ? from 19 March for up to 3 months.  You will be based in the community of Yirrkala in Nhulunbuy aka Gove. Nhulunbuy is a town supporting mining operations and is located on the Gove peninsula on the sparkling Arafura Sea ? a haven for sailors, anglers, adventurers and bird watchers. Yirrkala is located 15 minutes south east of Nhulunbuy CBD and has a population of around 800 and it is a regional centre for a further 800 people in the surrounding area. Nhulunbuy offers a wide range of services and amenities including two shopping areas, supermarkets, takeaways, salons, hardware store, clothing shops, Westpac, Commonwealth Bank, post office, petrol station, newsagency, police station, gym, tennis and squash courts and a 50 m Olympic sized swimming pool.   - You are the only GP in the community and you'll be supported by 3 full-time RNs, 4 AHW, an Aboriginal Community Worker, Aboriginal Hearing Worker and visiting allied health specialists. DMOs from Gove hospital visit during the week. Gove District Hospital also provides tertiary care. -  No on call requirements.
