There are 78 public beds and 20 private beds. It provides extensive services including general medicine, general orthopaedics, ENT, ophthalmic, and gynaecological surgery and obstetrics in addition to an Emergency Department and a High Dependency Unit. The hospital has approximately 550 births per year with ICU cases being transferred to Adelaide. == The Position ==: You will be working for practitioners who have a contract with the hospital. == The Position == is available due to the hospital gaining an increase in budget. You will be the third consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist which means you will take part in a 1:3 on call roster. Ideally you will take up the role in a permanent capacity, however the option for a six month position is there. You will be required to perform caesareans and teach and supervise the clinical practice of obstetrics and gynaecology to the seven GP obstetrician registrars, salaried medical officers, interns and medical students. You will also be presented with the opportunity to improve access to services for Aboriginal women as well as expand the scope of clinical obstetric services provided by the hospital. There is a very generous salary package on offer which varies depending on experience. == The Location ==: You will be located half way between Melbourne and Adelaide on the South Australian and Victorian border. The streets and houses are built around the slopes of an extinct volcano which only lies 27 kilometres from the sea. This means you are just a quick 20 minute drive from the beach. The town climbs almost to the lip of the famous Blue Lake which makes for a picturesque view and multiple activities including cave diving. The outskirts of the town are on the rich volcanic soil of the surrounding plain. You will also only live 30 minutes from the Coonawarra vineyards, which means you are only a short trip away from an area where you can enjoy the brilliant local produce on offer. Why Wavelength?
