You will join a team of 3 Consultants and you will be required to participate in the on call roster. The Department of Orthopaedics services primarily adult orthopaedic patients and emergency surgery for paediatric patients. It is a regional referral centre for orthopaedic trauma that does not require admission to a trauma unit. Emergency care includes paediatric, tumour and spinal emergency cases. The unit services inpatients, day procedure patients as well as trauma patients in the Intensive Care Unit and a busy Outpatient component including Elective orthopaedics include sports medicine, adult reconstruction. The unit is strongly supported by Visiting Medical Officers(VMO) staff who provide excellent learning opportunities for Resident Medical Officers(RMO). There is a Trauma team on call each day. We are seeking a permanent consultant, however contracts of 6-12 months will be considered. The Hospital You will work in a 200 bed hospital that is located in a progressive city of 82,000 with a catchment population of over 120,000. The medical services offered from this hospital are accident and emergency, general medicine, surgery, gynaecology, breast screening, ICU and CCU, paediatrics, renal services and orthopaedics and psychiatry. == The Location == Located approximately 5 hours by road from Brisbane, Queensland State capital.
