The role is offering two 6 month rotations, one in emergency and one in general medicine. You must therefore be able to commit to a 12 month fixed term contract which is due to commence in either August 2012 or January 2013. The Hospital Join the largest healthcare provider in the East Gippsland area and help service a population of roughly 40,000 people across 21,000 square kilometres. The facility has 195 beds, admits 10,000 patients and provides 30,000 outpatient services annually. The Emergency Department sees 16,000 presentations yearly, approximately 3,000 of which are admitted acutely. There are also 67 acute beds, 16 sub-acute beds, a modern theatre suite and a newly built Emergency Department. Attached to the hospital is a 90 bed facility which houses an Aged Care facility, the Rehabilitation unit, Outpatient Services and Consulting Suites. == The Location == Located in Eastern Victoria, 285 kilometres east of Melbourne, this town is the gateway to the Gippsland Lake District and is set on the banks of the Mitchell River, within a stone?s throw of Lake King. There is an immediate population of 11,500 people however the East Gippsland area has over 40,000 in the municipality. It is the largest city in the East Gippsland area and is the major regional centre. What sets this area apart from other destinations is its breath-taking natural surrounds. The town is surrounded by national park land including the Mitchell River National Park which offers great walking, hiking and camping as well as great fishing on the river. If something less adventurous is more your style then the Twin Rivers Food and Wine trail may be more your thing ? meander around the area taking in the best local produce as well as local art galleries, museums and antique shops.
