This position would involve conducting community clinics with the General Adult and Maori Community Mental Health Team, working with the local crisis team. You will be based at the main hospital in the city and we are looking for a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in adult psychiatry to take up this permanent position. The Hospital You will be working in a 217 bed hospital that provides services across four locations in the region. The hospital serves a population of 63,000. Services provided include medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, geriatrics, ophthalmology, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, ENT, urology medicine, vascular surgery, endoscopy, psychiatry, rheumatology, alcohol and drug, emergency care, pathology, radiology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, orthotics, social work and domiciliary care.  In 2008 the hospital opened a brand new theatre complex and maternity department, giving you access to modern, state-of-the-art facilities including spiral CT, 1.5T MRI, new theatres, ICU and resuscitation bay.   == The Location == Situated on the west coast of New Zealand?s North Island, in the summer you can spend your spare time enjoying the river that sweeps through the valley over which the city is spread, enjoying activities like rowing, sailing, canoeing and water skiing.
