The Hospital This hospital was redeveloped in late 2004, transforming it into a new, state-of-the-art 181 bed, secondary care facility that provides healthcare to a population of 105,000. The hospital also provides a training ground for medical interns, nursing and midwifery students for two universities in the region. The medical imaging department is well appointed for a hospital of its size, boasting a 1.5T MRI scanner, 16-slice CT scanner (shortly to be replaced with a new 64-slice scanner), alongside X-Ray, Ultrasound, Mammography and Nuclear Medicine capabilities. == The Location == You will be favourably placed to some of New Zealand's most beautiful scenery with nearby destinations including the Southern Heartland, Stewart Island, Fiordland and the Catlins.
