It acts as the tertiary hospital and provides genuine care for a population of 600,000. The hospital has 486 beds and has over 42,000 admissions every year.  The hospital has been designed to cater for the continuing developments in medical technology and so you will always have the best resources available.   The services the hospital provides include cardiology, general practice clinic, medical imaging, mental health, nuclear medicine, maternity and neonatal services, neurosurgery, oncology, surgery, cardiothoracic intensive care, paediatric care and allied health services. The hospital has close links with the local medical university and has an intake of 80 students per annum. Therefore as part of your role you are able to train registrars and also take part in lectures for the medical students.   The hospital?s imaging facilities include X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Interventional procedures and Angiography which you will have access to. There are also links allowing the digital transfer of images and results to and from all facilities in the district. Digital information is transferable, for review, to other Queensland Health facilities (via network) or on CD to non-QH sites. The patients are very well looked after with specific imaging recovery/day beds located within the service for radiology.   You will join a team of 5.5 FTE?s, 6 registrars and 1 PHO who will welcome you to the hospital. The hospital takes pride in its friendly staff atmosphere and promotes an open door policy. The radiology department is supported by a multidisciplinary team including reception and nursing staff. You will be required to take part in on call which is currently 1:4 ? 1:5 where you are second on call. This position is ideal for a well rounded generalist although special interests are welcomed and encouraged.   == The Location ==:   You will live in a coastal city that is less than two hours by plane from Brisbane.
