This involves providing services to the 27,000 residents of the town and to a further 20,000 people in remote communities across an area of 1 million square kilometers. Therefore due to this relative isolation, the hospital must be able to handle most medical situations. The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), District Medical Officers and staff from the hospital, provide remote area clinic services. The RFDS also provides the aeromedical service for evacuations to larger centres. The hospital has recently undergone extensive redevelopment and there is now a new rehabilitation service, mental health facility, maternity wing, special care nursery, 3 operating theatres, medical, surgical and paediatric wards and an outpatient department. == The Position ==: You would join a team of six consultants, one accredited registrar and two non accredited registrars. You will be required to be on call 1:5. Your role will also require you to share your knowledge by teaching junior staff and medical students. This is a requirement as the hospital is committed to clinical training.  == The Location ==: You will be living in the second largest town in the Northern Territory. The area is scenically beautiful. It is nestled at the foothills of the MacDonnell ranges which means rugged ranges and spectacular gorges in an essentially arid desert landscape.
